At ZRecover, we specialize in the rehabilitation of elbow pain, both acute and chronic, through truly individualized care so that your tendon can tolerate whatever demand you place on it. Every plan is built around your unique mechanics, sport, and goals—because no two elbows (or athletes) are the same. This is where elbow expertise meets personalized rehabilitation.

Think of it like a car with a bent frame. If you keep driving it, the wheels wear out — even though the real problem isn’t the wheels.
Your elbow works the same way.
Your hands do small, precise movements, but the power comes from your shoulder and upper back. The elbow connects them.
If the shoulder or upper back isn’t working well, the elbow has to work harder. Over time, that extra stress can irritate the tendons and stop the elbow from healing.
We find where the problem is coming from, then create a plan to fix it and take pressure off the elbow.
Swelling in a tendon usually goes away in 2–6 weeks. At first, an injury can cause swelling, and simple exercises or basic therapy often fix it quickly.
If your elbow pain lasts longer than 1–2 months, it’s usually not from swelling. Instead, the tendon has tiny tears and damage, called tendinosis, which is more common than most people realize.
Tendinosis needs a different approach to heal. It’s more complicated than swelling, but with the right treatment, it can get much better.
We treat it by first loading the tendon. This helps the tendon rebuild strong Type 1 collagen and remodel properly. After the tendon is loaded, we strengthen the muscles to bulletproof the elbow. Each plan is tailored to you and the way you use your arm, so your tendon can handle daily activities and sports safely.
Pain on the outside of the elbow that typically worsens with elbow extension while the palm is facing down or during activities that require a strong grip.
Pain on the inside of the elbow that most often increases with finger pressure or during movements such as biceps curls and pull-ups.
Pain at the front crease of the elbow that typically increases when bending the elbow against resistance or when extending the elbow after it has been held in a bent position for an extended period of time.
Pain on the back of the elbow that most often increases during pressing movements, such as bench press, or with exercises that isolate the triceps.
Elbow pain that does not fit any of the other pain descriptions and has been present for more than five months.
Generalized elbow pain that may shift in location around the elbow and is often accompanied by discomfort in the shoulder or neck, especially during lifting, gripping, or repetitive upper-body activities.

How Our Program Works
1. Consultation
We start with a brief consultation to determine if working together is the right fit for you.
2. Comprehensive Evaluation
Next, we perform a full evaluation to find the root cause of your elbow pain. We assess all contributors, including body mechanics, to determine exactly what needs to be addressed and estimate how long your recovery may take.
3. Customized Recovery Plan
Based on your evaluation and personal goals, we create a tailored recovery plan designed specifically for you. Your program is delivered through a custom app, giving you clear guidance and detailed instructions for every step of the process.
4. Ongoing Support
You’ll have direct, day-to-day messaging access to one of our elbow rehab specialists for guidance and questions.
5. Regular Re-Evaluations
We meet every 2–3 weeks to track progress and update your plan based on your response.
6. Additional Resources
Additional check-ins, exercise programming, and educational handouts are provided to ensure your success and maximize your recovery.
90–95% of individuals who follow the program achieve their desired outcomes. In 2025, 92% of our clients returned to an active lifestyle pain-free.
About 70% of clients experience roughly 50% pain reduction within the first 3 weeks.
Pain improvement depends on the underlying cause:
- If pain is mainly from stress on the elbow due to body mechanics imbalances, relief tends to come faster.
- If pain is largely from tendon degeneration or breakdown, improvement may be slower.
Even in slower cases, outcomes remain excellent, and clients notice daily and weekly progress as the tendon gradually gains strength and tolerance.
This program can be done conveniently at home with a few simple pieces of equipment:
- Resistance bands (various types)
- Foam roller
- Lacrosse ball
- FlexBar
- Weights (2–10/15 lbs)
If needed, there are ways to adapt other household items as substitutes. Some people prefer to complete their program at a gym, and that’s also an option if it’s easier for you.
Rest alone is not only unnecessary but can actually make tendon problems worse. Tendons are highly adaptable and respond to the stresses placed on them—so the right activity is key to healing.
That said, in the early stages of rehab, some modifications to your usual activities may be needed. During our onboarding process, we review your body mechanics and evaluation findings to create a plan that’s tailored to you on how you can stay active during the beginning stages of the recovery process.
In rare cases with very high pain, short-term rest may be recommended until the body’s pain response calms down, but this is the exception rather than the rule.
Elbow tendon injuries are often misunderstood in healthcare, which has led to a flood of devices and procedures claiming to be the “next best thing.”
Even traditional physical therapy and chiropractic care often treat elbow pain as if it’s just inflammation or muscle tension, which is why techniques like dry needling or massage are commonly used. Many programs then jump from light stretching or massage straight into wrist strengthening. While this may help some cases, complex elbow pain is rarely caused by forearm weakness alone.
The truth is that complex elbow pain must be evaluated on a case-by-case basis to identify the root cause. It then requires a specialist who understands how to address all contributing factors. That’s why at ZRecover, we combine research, evidence-based practices, and deep expertise to help even the most complex cases become pain-free.
It is very safe to say, what is provided here will certainly be very different than anything you have tried before.
Most clients spend about 30 minutes a day, 5–6 days a week on their program.
The total duration varies by individual, but programs typically last 2–4 months on average.
For elbow tendon issues, virtual rehab is an ideal approach, allowing for consistent, individualized care.
We provide a daily routine through our custom app, so you always know exactly what to do. Each exercise has a video demonstration and walk through for every technique or exercise you will need to perform. Detail is the key and we make sure to provide you with clarity with each task. The app also lets you communicate with us day-to-day, rather than waiting days or weeks to ask questions or adjust exercises.
To ensure your program continues to progress, we also meet via video call every 2–3 weeks to review your progress and make updates as needed.
Many limitations in healthcare come from insurance restrictions and regulations. At ZRecover, we provide a premium, evidence-based service and choose not to be limited by insurance companies that may not follow best practices.
As a result, our services are private pay. Most HSA and FSA plans do accept our services, and if you choose to use one, we will provide a brief write-up for your records.
Schedule a free consultation at a time that works for you. During the call, we’ll take a deep dive into your situation to determine if you’re a good candidate for our program, and discuss what next steps need to be taken.
